FAQ - Bank vs CU

Have you ever wondered what is the difference between a bank and a credit union?

A credit union functions differently than a conventional bank. In a credit union every member is also a partial owner. Because credit unions are cooperatively owned by all of its members, deposits are called shares, and share drafts are checking accounts.

One major difference is that banks are owned by stock holders. The banks make profits that are then shared with the stock holders. Since credit unions are owned by it's members, any profit that is made is reinvested in its members through dividends and added services. Dividends are declared on share accounts at the end of June and December each year and then posted to your account.

Hope this helps you understand the difference. A credit union is banking you can trust.
